Ministries

Get involved at Cedar Grove!

As a body of Christ, we believe that we are here to continue to glorify and serve the Lord through fellowship, worship, and ministry. With this in mind, we encourage you to be involved with our congregation and become a part of the family. There are plenty of opportunities in which you can jump right in and use your gifts to minister and serve the Lord.

In addition to our Sunday morning activities, you may join us for our Sunday evening service at 6:00 as we dig deeper into the Bible. During the school year, we have activities on Wednesday night for the whole family, including adult Bible studies and Kids' Grove. Teens will want to get involved in our youth group, which stays active in study and service throughout the year. Check our calendar and Facebook page to stay updated on our current events and announcements.

Adults

Sunday School

We offer Sunday school classes for all types and ages at 10:00 each Sunday morning:

  • Higher Ground Class - This class is full of wisdom and experience but is still eager to learn from and grow in the Lord.
  • Women's Fellowship Class - Nicknamed "Sister Chicks" because they are all chicks at heart, this class welcomes all ladies regardless of age to join us as they study God's word, encouraging and supporting one another with prayer and love.
  • Men's Fellowship Class - Engaging in meaningful discussions in a casual atmosphere, members of this class will seek to know and understand God and our world while growing in fellowship with other men in the church.
  • Adult 1 Class - This class will challenge members to strengthen their walk with God, discussing topics such as marriage, spiritual growth, and living for Christ.
  • Foundations Class - For all those who desire to have a deeper understanding of Scripture and our purpose in God's glory, this class offers in-depth study through different books of the Bible.
  • College & Career Class - This class focuses on discipleship, fellowship, and kingdom building service with college students and early career professionals. Our desire is that this group would be a home away from home for any young adult that finds their way through our doors.

Bible Studies

Cedar Grove offers weekday groups for men and women who desire a deeper relationship with the Lord and a more solid walk with Him. These studies are open to anyone who would like to attend, including those in the community who are not members of Cedar Grove. These are typically inactive during the summer months and resume when school starts.

Youth

The Grove

Wednesday Night Student Ministry

Static is a fun and spiritually challenging Bible study time for students at The Grove. With food, music, games, and time spent in God's Word, students will leave challenged and ready to apply the truths of the lessons in their everyday lives. Come and join us as we dive into what it means to really grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ.

Sunday Morning Bible Study

Sunday Bible Experience is the small group Sunday school time for students at Cedar Grove. There are two small groups, one for young ladies and another for our young men. Studies alternate every couple weeks in order to remain unique and fresh.

Sunday Night Life

We meet on Sunday nights at the homes of church members for a meal and student-led Bible study. Keep an eye on the calendar to see what times we are meeting, as our schedule may change throughout the year.

Get Plugged In!

We use the Remind app for most youth announcements. You'll want to join our group to stay updated about our activities and any schedule changes. To join, send a text to 81010 with the message @groveym (for youth) or @thegroveym (for parents).

We also utilize PayPal if you'd like to pay any of our activity fees electronically.

Children

Cedar Grove is family-oriented; we love kids and make sure that they can be involved, too! This starts by including their own children's sermon time as part of our Sunday morning service and extends to our many activities for kids of all ages.

In addition to our Sunday school classes at 10:00am, we also offer weekly children's activities and special events during the summer, such as Kids' Camp and Vacation Bible School. Most of our children's activities are typically inactive during the summer months and resume when school starts.

Kids' Grove

Kids' Grove is our Wednesday night program for children in grades Pre-K through 6th. Kids' Grove is an exciting and energetic program that introduces children to the Word of God. Children are divided up into several grade groups (Pre-K and K, 1st-2nd, 3rd-4th, 5th-6th). Each group will work through the Bible in the span of a year, focusing on different important aspects that are age related.

Wednesday Evening Schedule
Opening 6:00 - 6:05
Meal Time 6:05 - 6:20
Worship 6:20 - 6:35
Missions Focus 6:35 - 6:45
Bible Study 6:45 - 7:20

Children's Church

In addition to having a special children's sermon at the beginning of our Sunday morning service, we also have options for childcare during the sermon so that our little ones don't have to struggle to sit still and quiet (if that is your preference).

Nursery care is available during all of our activities, and our preschool children usually sit together at the beginning of our worship service but can return to their classroom before the sermon begins.

Additionally, during the school year, we offer a class for 1st - 3rd grade children during the sermon time. If desired, your children may leave after our worship time to attend this class, which is led by different member volunteers each month, where they will hear a Bible story and participate in fun activities. (During the summer, these children should remain with their families during the sermon.)

Missions

Cedar Grove has a history of passion for the Gospel, faithfully giving our time and money to missions both at home and abroad. We support Texas Baptists both by giving to the Cooperative Program and by getting involved in other mission opportunities across the state.

Many of our members often contribute to the work at Mission Carthage, including assistance with food distribution and donations to help with their ministry. We also enjoy helping with Operation Christmas Child, where we come together as a church and pack hundreds of shoeboxes for those in need. Our members have also been very generous in supporting the kids at South Texas Children's Home, where we send donations and Christmas gifts to the children each year.

We encourage all Christians to get involved in missions and service. Whether you want to help with a local ministry or go on a mission trip abroad, our Missions Team is always planning new opportunities. In recent years, we have sent groups to Guatemala, El Salvador, and Mexico to minister to those in need.
